A man dreamed: “I see a large stone cylinder. It reminds me of an old sharpening wheel in shape only it is much larger, maybe 25 feet in diameter and four or five feet deep. It turns slowly on the surface of a lake, a flat side facing the sky. It is slightly tilted off horizontal and it is partially submerged. Some people swim around it, as do I, helping it turn. This seems to be our role.”
This is a dream about co-creation; it is about helping God achieve His goals. The slow but steadily turning disc is a symbol of the Self, the creative, healing core of the personality. It is positioned at the water’s surface acting as a bridge between the conscious and unconscious, symbolized by the sky and lake respectively. It spins on its center where, like God, it is always moving yet always still. The swimmers can help the cylinder turn. They can help it go faster but they don’t change its path.
Some people see co-creation as if it is a large canvas where God starts painting in one corner and you start in another and you both meet in the middle and see what you’ve come up with. That’s not co-creation. That’s you doing your own thing, behaving as God’s equal. Co-creation is when you become a conscious assistant to the process that is trying to unfold in the universe, the world, and your life. You are here to contribute, to help turn the stone of spiritual evolution. Your contribution will carry the stamp of your individuality, for your individuality was given to you with specific contributions in mind. You may help turn the wheel of God’s creation, or not.
